4 20th February 2015 New Pension distribution at Raxual colony, Bihar

Mr.RamavaraihSah Executive Members of APAL has arranged the camp at Raxaul Block of Bihar State for 201 affected persons have got pension on. The Pension Office staff Mr.Arvindkumar issued newly received application of 50 affected persons after confirmation get Rs.1500/- with hard efforts of Mr.RamavaraishSah and colony leaders of Little Flower colony of Raxaul Block – Bihar stateand 135 old pensioners they receiving pension Rs. 1500/- from February 2014 onwards.

Remaining 66 community affected persons till not get any pension. APAL team move toward Block Development Officer and submitted the 66 application. They will get pension very soon. Indian Overseas Bank manager Mr.Shanthosh also participated in the camp.

5 10th& 11th March 2015. The national SLO’s review meeting

The national State Leprosy Officers review meeting conducted by DDGL and Ministry of Social welfare at Delhi on Mr.Narsdappa, President &Mr.Venugopal Vice President of APAL participated the in the meeting. Mr.Narsappa has explained the APAL Involvement in National Leprosy Eradication Programme in the states. APAL main activities Advocacy programme, Gross root training programme, Health education and counseling to the colony people All state Leprosy Officers are presented their activities and DDGL has reviewed as per Action Plan.

7 15th March 2015 The meeting for Skill development of youth at Samarat International Hotel, Patna

NSDC has provided a grant to Sasakawa India leprosy Foundation (S-ILF) for skill development of youth for employability from leprosy affected families in five states of India- Bihar, U.P, M.P, Odisha and Maharashtra for a period of one year. The project aims to skill 350 youths from 100 colonies in these 5 states.

The need for finding appropriate employment for the youth has been strongly expressed by colony leaders and members across the country. SILF began the project by organizing a meeting with state & colony leaders from the selected 5 states and training partners who had shown willingness to support SILF in this endeavor of skilling youth in these states.

APAL president-Mr. V. Narsappa and Vice President-Mr. Venugopal took an active participation in the meeting and helped in convincing the issues and concerns. They also provided their suggestions in developing a consensus between the participants.

It was suggest by the APAL that SILF should ensure the participation of APAL leaders so that any problem should be identified immediately.

8 23rd to 25th March 2015 Trainers of Training at RMP,Uttan, Thane, Maharashtra

Programme Organised by Association of People Affected by Leprosy In Collaboration With RambhauMhalgiPrabodhini, Uttasn Thane, Mumbai The Trainers Training Programme was inaugurated at the hands of Mr. V. Narsappa, President, Mr. VenuGopal, Vice President and Mr. UdayThakar, Advisor, APAL, in a traditional way by lightening the lamp.

In the inaugural speech, all the dignitaries explained the background & objects of the training programme. Participants were also selected with a view to involve them in the future activities of APAL.

Mr. AshishChavan briefly explained the history of Human Right movement. The Universal Declaration of Human Rightswas adopted by the UN general Assembly on 10 December 1948. This was the result of the atrocity seen in II world war.

2 27th & 28th April 2015 2nd TEG review meeting Held Guangzhou, China

ILEP Temporary Experts Group (TEG) invited Mr.V.Narsappa to attended the 2 TEG meeting- A two days review meeting on strengthening participation of persons affected by Leprosy service (SPP) Guangzhou, China. The purpose of the meeting is to collect the inputs and advices from representatives of people affected by leprosy on their participation in leprosy service as well as other works currently being done by TEG members.

Session of sharing experience in SPP by the persons from China, Indonesia, India, Nepal, Philippines and Ethiopia presented their experiences in the sessions.

Mr.Narsappa attended and Presentation of sharing his experience in SPP on good practice. Sasakawa Memorial Health Foundation has organized the programme.

3 27th April 2015 Met UP Governor at Rajbhavan

Mr.Venugopal-Vice President, Mr.Dayulu Prasad-Uttar Pradesh State Leader, Mr.Murari Sinha and other staff Uttar Pradesh society members met UP State Governor Mr.Ram Nayak at his premises of Rajbhavan – Lucknow and submitted the memorandum of UP state colony basic requirements.

The State Governor told to our staff, immediately look into this issue to get all benefits from Government as per eligible.

5 27th & 28th May 2015 ILU-HA meeting Lucknow ,Uttar Pradesh

International Leprosy Union- Health alliance organized the two days seminar on creating awareness about leprosy and Human Rights with collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh Government at National Botanical Research Institute, Rana Pratap Marg Lucknow.

Mr.Narsappa, Mr.Suresh Kaul, Mr.Daylu Prasad & Mr.Murari Sinha were attended the meeting. Presentation- Stigma & Discrimination .

6 12th & 14th June 2015 Youth Training Programme Bhopal Madhya Pradesh

The Youth Training Programme was inaugurated at the hands of Mr. V. Narsappa, President, Mr. VenuGopal, Vice President and Mr. Uday Thakar, Advisor, APAL, in a traditional way by lightening the lamp.

In the inaugural speech, all the dignitaries explained the background & objects of the training programme. Participants were also selected with a view to involve them in the future activities of APAL. Dignitaries also highlighted the need for such training programmes. In the end they requested participants to participate whole heartedly and actively.

8 25th June 2015 SLAP-AP Office Inauguration

Society of Leprosy Affected Person- Andhra Pradesh Inauguration: After bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, SLAP (Society of Leprosy Affected Persons) also was bifurcated in to SLAP-AP & SLAP-Telangana. On 25th June 2015 SLAP-AP inaugurated new Office (Supported by LEPRA) at Ganavaram, Vijayawada.

Mr.Venkateswara Rao Founder of Gretnaltes, Tenali, Mr.Narsappa-President of APAL, Mr.Venugopal-Vice President, Mrs.Radhika Mamidi-Project coordinator LEPRA Society, Sis.Leuisa- Nirmala Congregation, Dr.Manjusha, Mr.Nageswara Rao -NGO & Mr.Srinivasa Rao-DPMO are participated in the SLAP-AP inauguration programme.

Mr.Venkateswara Rao garu 9has blessed the new office and inaugurated. Mr.Chandra Sekhar- Secretary welcomed and given brief report on Society of Leprosy Affected by Leprosy – AP. Mr.S.Subba Rao- President has explained the How do form the SLAP in the initial period.

1 6th July 2015 HHDL & Sasakawa Student scholarship selection meeting

APAL and SILF had healthy discussion on His Holiness Dalai Lama scholarship to selection of the students form Bihar, Delhi, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh. Dr. VineetaShanker greeted all the members of the selection committee and thanked HH Dalai Lama Trust and TNF for supporting this program. Dr. P.K Gopal was requested to chair the meeting. The chairperson welcomed all committee members.

On the request of Chairperson, SILF updated the committee on the progress of the program. SILF briefed the committee members on how the program progressed from survey to shortlisting of the candidates.

SILF received from APAL a list of total 559 children from 04 states collated from the survey done in these States by it. Based on suggested guidelines SILF identified appropriate candidates and invited them for State level workshops. In each state 04 workshops were organized; these were attended by 161 candidates. The workshops were also attended by both State and National leaders.

3 18th to 25thJuly 2015 Rath Yatra at Puri Lord Jaganath

Ratha Yatra or Chariot Festival) is a Hindu festival associated with the god Jaganath held at Puri in the state of Odisha, India. This annual festival is celebrated on Ashadha Shukla Dwitiya

As part of Ratha Yatra, the deities of Jaganath, Balabhadra and Subhadra are taken out in a procession to Gundicha Temple and remain there for nine days. Then the deities or Ratha Yatra return to the Main temple. The return journey of Puri Jaganath Ratha Yatra is known as Bahuda Jatra.

We are glad to inform you that we have arranged leprosy awareness program at Puri Jaganath in the occasion of Rath Yatra from 18th July to 25th July 2015 with collaboration of APAL, NLEP, LEPRA Society and District Leprosy Unit Puri.

During this event Mr.Umesh Chandra Nayak state leader of Odisha created awareness program without stall. Odisha NLEP not allotted any stall for APAL Odisha team from 18th to 22nd July 2015.

Mr.Umesh Chandra Nayak and Mr.Ghasiram state leader of Chhattisgarh created awareness on Leprosy and other activities like display our National Appeal, Distributing the pamphlets to the Pilgrims.

Mr.Narsappa and Mr.Nagamalleswar Rao went to intelligence office , Koti, Hyderabad, to find out FCRA prior permission status

5 12th August 2015 Discussion 3rd draft survey format -WHO

Mr.V Narsappa went to LEPRA Society for discussion of 3rd draft survey format with Chief Executive Mr.Ashim Chowla of 3 question answer asked by Dr.Ranganadha Rao WHO GP. 3rd draft survey format filled with help of Mr.Ashim Chowla has written the answer as per questions.

Mr.V Narsappa has explained the Association of people Affected by leprosy activities and Vision and Mission of objectives to Mr.Ashim Chowla CEO of LEPRA.

Finally the draft was finalized and send to Dr.Rangandha Rao WHO

6 2nd September 2015 Perimela Society land issue

Mr.Ramesh- President of SLAP TS, Approached Mr.Etala .Rajendhar, Honorable Finance and Civil supply minister of Telangana state, along with Mr.Narsappa, APAL President and colony inmates from Tanugula, (Parimala Society colony) of Jammikunta, Karimnagar district regarding Agricultural land (Survey No.308) nearly of about 84 acres. During 30 years back the concerned government has allottedthese land to the colony inmates of Parimala Society, but the land was not registed on their individual names till now. Nearly 32 families of the colony are completely dependent on this Agricultural land and feeding their families since 30 years.

Regarding this issue to get individual registration papers on name of colony inmates, submitted a supplication to the honorable minister on behalf of SLAP Telangana and colony association. Minister had responded in an encouraging way and received our correspondence and said that he will discuss about this in cabinet meeting & will do justice to the affected people.

7 5th& 6th September 2015 NCPEDP Meeting

Mr.V. Narsappa, our senior consultant Dr.P K Gopal, Mr.Venugopal and Mr Uday Thakar attended the workshop of "National Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities" at USI New Delhi. Mr.Javed Abidi- Honorary Director of NCPEDP welcome theparticipants and given brief note on Making India Accessible.

Mr.Mukesh Jain-Joint Secretary Department of Disability Affairs Ministry Social Justice Empowerment discussed about Accessible India Campaign (AIC) NCRPD has decided to support the AIC and to work on accessibility at districts level in the country.

Mrs.Ramachari Founder of Diversity and Equal Opportunity Centre (DEOC) and Mr.Narsappa, Dr.Vineetha Shanker and Dr.P K Gopal expressed their views in Integrating issues related to leprosy into larger disability movement.

8 5th September 2015 2ndMeeting of the Core Group on Leprosy

NCPEDP has constituted a Core Group on Leprosy discussed the issues of rights of person with disabilities by Leprosy held Residency Resorts Pvt. Ltd., USI Premises, Rao Tula Ram Marg, Opposite Signals Enclave, New Delhi-10

To push for passage of the proposed legislation “Eliminating Discrimination against Persons Affected by Leprosy (EDPAL) Bill, 2015”.

The people cured of Leprosy fall under the ambit of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment while those being treated for Leprosy fall under the Ministry of Health. Mr Abidi felt that entitlement maybe linked to level of disability but protection from discrimination should be a right of everyone, whether a person was leprosy cured or still undergoing treatment. Representation needs to be made to the relevant ministries - Social Justice and Empowerment and Health.

Dr. P. K. Gopal felt that petition for implementation of the Law “Eliminating Discrimination against Persons Affected by Leprosy (EDPAL) Bill, 2015”. Ms Vineeta Shanker to arrange a meeting with Mr Lov Verma – Secretary, Social Justice and Empowerment.

9 9th September 2015 Follow up visit to SLO office

Mr. Ramesh, President (SLAP TS) and Mr.Narsappa, President (APAL India) met Dr.JohnBabu, SLO of Telangana state and discussed regarding the supply of MCR Footwear and medicine & bandage in the colonies of the Telangana state.

Also requested, to arrange footwear camp in colony itself .SLO responded kindly and said that, I will discuss about this issue with the concerned DLO’s in the state and see that these tasks of making footwear and issue to needy patients will handover to SLAP TS itself.

10 21st September 2015 Enhanced the Pension

Association of People Affected by Leprosy (APAL) and Uttar Pradesh State Forum support by The Nippon Foundation with their hard effect achieved the Pension enhancement.

Uttar Pradesh state government G O (Pension) passed with kind heart from Rs.300/- to Rs.2500/-for Leprosy affected People. Behalf Leprosy affected People conveyed the gratitude to Govt.of UP.
